Radix-Glass Medium

With the Radix-Glass you can grow flower bulbs and vegetable tubers in water while observing both the plant’s development and the formation of its root system. A narrowing in the neck of the vase creates a small platform on which the bulb or tuber rests, suspended above the water without direct contact.

The Radix-Glass Medium is particularly well suited for growing various vegetable tubers that are often difficult to fit into the Radix-Glass Small, such as sweet potato, taro, different types of radish and, of course, beetroot with its colourful roots.

In addition to autumn vegetables, the following summer-flowering plants also work very well in the Radix-Glass Medium: begonia, jacob’s lily and fireball lily.

An interesting experiment is placing a pineapple crown in the glass, which will begin to form new roots after a short time.

Collected experience, helpful tips and detailed instructions for growing these and other plants in the Radix-Glass can be found in the Brochure Radix supplied with each Radix-Glass.

With a Radix-Glass Medium purchase, you can currently choose between Begonia or blood lily (Scadoxus multiflorus).

Please note that begonia tubers and blood lily (Scadoxus multiflorus) bulbs are perishable. After receipt, the tuber /bulb should be removed from its packaging and ideally started immediately. If this is not possible, store them cool and dark at around 10 °C. Longer storage is not recommended, as it reduces germination viability.

We take care to ship only healthy, viable tubers. We recommend indicating your preferred delivery date on the order form, especially if the tuber is a gift.
